Behind Heart Shaped Sunglasses

It’s an interesting intersection…the intersection of where planning and action meet. Here we are 2 weeks away from departure. I am experiencing a full range of emotions. Trying to really sip in the comforts of home. Extra long baths, TV time, enjoying the season in Red Deer. In fact I’ve done some Christmas decorating (for Olive…and for me) because I know once we hit the road life will be different. But we fully embrace the different. Within these differences are opportunities and experiences that we could never have imagined from the comforts of our home.

We leave in 2 weeks! We are planning to drive down the west coast of the US to the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. This trip has been percolating since our last trip around North America. Baja California is a mecca for travelling camper vans, RV’s, overland units, motorcyclists. All looking for a holiday or a get away from the chilly northern temperatures.

I’m going to briefly state that absolutely there are some risks associated with this type of travel and to this destination. We have done a great deal of research on this particular corner of the world. We have learned first hand from travelers currently there. What can I say….we could stay at home and be afraid to venture outside. Or we can be bold, brave and acknowledge fear and learn from it and grow in it. We are taking proper precautions and have Olive’s well being in the forefront of our minds.

We can’t wait to share our love of travel with Olive, especially the 5 months we’ll get to experience a different culture. Our departure date in December 1 (weather permitting). Welcome to Behind Heart Shaped Sunglasses.
